YouTube Vs. Metacafe

Youtube is definetely the biggest videos website ever, but, something a lot of people do not know is that it was not the first one, there were several other video-sharing websites on the internet a lot earlier than youtube.

Metacafe for example, had the plan to pay it’s users for their video views, and they had a real plan, that would certainly work. Now YouTube is testing something that will do the same. Well, metacafe was placed online some years before youtube, and youtube growed a lot more.

That is something that always made me think, youtube was not a new idea, the new idea was to make another video-sharing website that would turn out to be a big one (as it did), one of the only possible reasons I can figure for that is the advetisement they used, this has prooved to true on other websites, while metacafe was slowly advertised worlwide, youtube was being advertised to the USA only, of course it became a worlwide trend, but the point is how it started.

A massive advertising to the USA is what made youtube so big, people on the USA are the ones who spend more time and more money online, that is a fact, and that is why youtube worked. Well, that makes me think, as this thing did not happen only to youtube, and well, I’ll keep on thinking until I get my own multi-billionaire idea.

Actually what made YouTube big was 2 things:

    1) They had great community features like private messaging that made people stay on their site and “bond” with other users
    2) The embedded player that gave anyone the ability to place their viewer on their site, thus putting it WAY out there.

It’s definitely interesting to watch this stuff.
It happens all the time, other companies are born and become market leaders.
I guess it’s just about the right timing and the right execution of the product or service.

YouTube and Metacafe are both good video sharing sites, especially for bloggers because we can embed the videos into our posts, which enhances the quality of our blogs. The main difference between the two sites that I have noticed is that YouTube has a higher quantity of videos, but Metacafe tends to have ones that are more educational or higher quality. I have found some good science demonstration types of videos for example, like the one where we can cool beverages faster by using salt water.

You have to revise your opinion. Repeating this nuttery misses your point. Give us proofs. Not just with words, but with deeds.
